About Us

Highland Park Drama Club

The Highland Park Drama Club (HP Drama) is an after-school club open to all Highland Park High School and Middle School students. We put on three productions a year: the fall play, spring musical, and one acts festival. This school year, we put on Puffs for the play and Footloose for the musical. We are currently producing One Knight: Student-Written Plays.

The HP Drama experience is truly customizable. You can be involved in one show or all of them. You can be an actor onstage, work as a part of the technical crew behind the scenes, or try your hand at both.

Highland Park Theater Company

The Highland Park Youth Theater Company (HPTC) is a non-school-affiliated theatre organization operated through Highland Park Recreation. It puts on a musical at the conclusion of a two-week summer intensive.

While many of the staff, actors, and techies in this program are also involved with the HP Drama Club, the HPTC is open to all teenagers who want to participate; you do not have to be a Highland Park resident or HPHS student. However, you must be at least 13 years old, and there is a fee to participate.

The HPTC put on its first production, Heathers the Musical: Teen Edition, in August 2023. For the summer of 2024, it is producing Mean Girls: High School Version.
